Projects & Groups update
This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.
Informative: Elektronikfreunde Meetup
Elektronikfreunde Meetup of the MuCCC on the Monday two weeks ago, was exceptionally held in our space. It was super nice. The other maker from the MuCCC had a good time in our space and we had great vibes. We should continue to cooperate with other institutions. It's mostly a win-win. -- Milian
Event Open Workshop Meetup
An other round of Open Workshop Meetup is happening in Munich. Next event is on the 8th of May at "Nagel und Faden" in Geretsried. Everyone is invited to join. Check out this slack thread for details
We would propose to invite to us afterwards in the following Month, I am already in contact with Werkbox3, because it makes more sense, when we do it together. Proposal is at the moment 10th or 12th of June. What we could "offer" as small event is still open.
-- Milian
Discussion: Reduction of heating consumption
Even though 2027 is still some time away, we should already start discussing how we can reduce our heating costs in the long term, since from 2027 onwards our heating will be billed based on actual consumption. It is very likely that our costs will be higher than they are now, because at the moment we pay a fixed price of 5 €/m² including heating and all other operating costs. I have started a discussion thread in #infrastructure. -- Milian
Yard: Updates
In the long term, I'd like to replace both the old pallet bench and the vandalized plastic bench with a single nice one and am periodically checking Kleinanzeigen for that. In the meantime, I propose to get rid of the pallet bench. But if there are people who really like it, we could also throw away the plastic bench instead and try to restore the pallet bench a little bit. Is anyone against getting rid of the palette bench? -- Aaron
- Approved, no one against
- Please reserver a budget in ThingsToBuy
Embroidery Machine
I would lend my embroidery machine to the space to be used by everyone (after taking a mandatory introductory course). But for that to be useful, it would need a storage space that is not the pit. If we feel the embroidery machine important enough, we can think about clearing out other things from the sewing box, assigning the next-free member storage box to it, or to making some other kind of room. --Aaron
- Approved, no one against
Decision Meetup Platform
Since the beginning the Munich Maker Lab is also present on the Meetup plattform and we have a regular event setup there for our open Thursdays. For regular attendies, Meetup is free, but for organizers of a group it costs to have active meetups on the platform. So far Severin has been sponsoring it for quite a while. Since it's running out now again, we should decide, if we want to keep it and the club pay for it or if we let it go. To understand better, if people get to know the club via meetup as well, I created this poll in slack recently. On meetup there are indeed some recent reviews, of people who are also known to have been at the space. Costs for meetup for 1 year subscription: if discount still active it's 150€ for the first year and 210€ for the following year(s). As alternative we could also start half year. Full caclulation is visible here.
At the moment we have around 900+ member in our meetup group. If we keep it, we should for sure use it more (e.g. to promote events and meetups like Kreativ Labor Open or RC Car Meetup)
Proposal: Keep it for one more year and calculate, that we get at least one new member with it, so it's more or less funding it self and try to better use it for advertisement of events. Check next year on the renewal, if it make sense to keep it longer. -- Milian
- 1 year approved
- We should look into the API, we might be able to post there automatically
Loomio Poll: Belt- and Discsander
See section "Introduce Loomio poll" below. --Phier
Kreativlabor Open - Update
Planing of the timetable is ongoing and must be handed in by 17.04. If you're involved please check #kreativlaboropen in Slack for the current draft. If you want to get involved or be an helping angel on that weekend also check #kreativlaboropen
The Wellness Dome won't be placed at our yard this year. Therefore we want to put some beer benches there as a rest and chill area.
We're also in contact with the Propeller-Liebes-Allianz-3000 for a possible party on Saturday evening. --Phier
MuMaLab Shirts
Customized Lab shirts for events like the K.L.O., Corso Leopold or just for wearing daily. The questions would be:
- Do we want MuMaLab Shirts? - Yes
- Shall we buy them printed or do we want to show our skills by screen-printing or stitch it? - Screen Print (and maybe stitched) at the Lab
- Do we want them personalised (name on it) ? - Maybe, but with embroidering at the Lab
- Do we want just regular t-shirts (round or V-neck) or something more classy like a Polo ? - Round neck, preferably Black and/or MuMaLab Blue :)
- How much do you want to spend on it? - around 20,-€
--> There will be polls in Slack for further clarification what we want. (Side note: B&C shirts have a decent quality)
Free2Take stuff living room
There is a lot of free2take stuff in the living room. It's already there since 1-2 weeks, but I would propose to clear it on the next cleanup day.
I plan to do some work on the electric tree and sorting out of old network devices, so there will be some more stuff, which needs to get to the recycling center. So it makes sense to combine it. -- Milian
Vorstand updates
- Info: We're about to switch to another (cheaper) electricity provider --Adrian
What would you like to change or to be changed? Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space?
Limit for Expense Approval Validity
Currently, there is no clear time limit for how long purchase approvals from the plenum remain valid. To help us plan our finances more accurately, we should introduce a time limit to prevent outdated approvals from affecting our budget tracking and add them to decisions.
Proposal: Purchase approvals are valid for 4 months from the date of approval. Within this period, the corresponding invoice must be submitted to the Vorstand. Approvals that exceed this timeframe must be renewed by a new plenum decision. -- Milian
- 3 Monate approved, with the possibility for explicit exception to be granted by the plenum
Things to Buy
(Per-plenum spending limit for purchases that belong together: 250€. Larger amounts go through a loomio poll.
To get back your paid money send the invoice(s) to finance@munichmakerlab.de)
- Material for Windrad Kits: I build some simple electric pinwheel kit, which uses mostly donated parts. I want to create now multiple kits and use them for Events in the space as simple beginner kits. We will need some addtional button switches and plastic bags to store the kits. => 20€; We need also the approval to laser cut the frames from our laser cut wood. Plan is to start with 20-30 kits -- Milian
- 20€ Approved by everyone
- For safe measurement of higher voltages usually a so called "Duspol" is used, because it reduced the risk of wrong measurement of a normal multimeter. We had one in the past, but it was probably the one of a member and left the space. Chris B and me brainstormed and found this one from a good brand, that is certified and has the basic functionality (works also without battery, shows 400V "Drehrichtung", simple usage): 50€ -- Milian
- Not approved. Aaron the Benevolent will lend his device to the Lab for now :)
- For the electronics corner it would be nice to have a small cordless drive for screwing stuff easily, so you don't have to do it by hand on bigger projects and do not need the big cordless drives from the workshop. I would suggest this simple device in combination with a 3D printed mount. 23€ in total -- Milian
- Approved
- Schattierfarbe: https://www.schacht.de/produkt/Schattierfarbe-Pulver-Brunonia-weiss-7_5kg/ This is usually used for greenhouses to limit solar exposure and temperature levels. It seems to essentially be chalk and can be removed later. After my internal sunsail idea did not help much last year, I would try (and myself climb on the roof to do it) to color our roof Windows with this, hopefully eliminating the harsh sunlight that makes it impossible to sit at large parts of the the community area in summer. The way I envision it, it would still be very bright, just more diffused, and then we can do the rest by opening the doors and running fans. 53€ --Aaron
- Approved - Test the paint on glass first how it behaves and how it can be removed. Paint only 4 windows to see if it brings any advantages.
- Budget of 50€ for 4x 8GB DDR3 RAM for our Server which will host in the future all VMs on a single machine (was split on two machines before). E.g. that offer --Phier
- Approved
- I want to relocate the light switch for the lights above the laser cutter to the door. At the same time I want to replace the old switch and add more power sockets. 2x double-sockets and 1x switch from Bush Jäger. 52,-€ --Phier
- Approved
