"Someone should ..." - This phrase is uttered very often when it comes to upgrades in the space, so why not gather all the ideas and running projects here?

How this page works

You have an idea how to improve something in the Lab.
Write down the basic info in the table below.
As the project idea matures write down any further details/instructions onto this page.
For bigger projects (> 2 weeks working time) consider to create an own project page on the wiki.
Introduce your project on the next plenum or gather people to help you.
Join other running projects to help finish them and learn something new.
When finished move it to the "Finished Projects" table and tell everybody in Slack (#projects) which awesome improvement you did!

Extend tools on the walls	In the workshop we have two boxes with a lot of bigger hand tools like saws. It's a bit messy to find stuff and to know what we have. One wall of the workshop is completely empty and it would be nice to add some OSB on this wall and hang more tools there, so that they are easily accessible. Create a nice Makerlab Sign for our yard	Our Makerlab outoor sign at the wall is just a plain acryl. It would be nice to have something more fancy similar to our neighbours at Werkbox. Improve broken floor	Our floor has a lot of holes in the concrete. In general it would be a landlord task, but it's not very likely, that something will hapen. Space sound system	We have a sound system in the workshop and in the main area. It was originally some kind of multiroom Audio, but super laggy when using it. At the moment only the Bluetooth system at the lasercube is mainly used. Task: Check what is left of the old setup and improve (e.g. switch just to two bluetooth systems), so it's easily possible to play audio in the workshop and in the community area. Easy device handling on gaming corner	The devices at the gaming corner (TV, HiFi, consoles, etc.) should be connected to different switchable power sockets (so there is only one switch to turn on the TV, only one for the HiFi, etc.). Documentation on the wiki how to turn on/off the devices is also needed, along with a QR-code on the devices which point to the corresponding wiki page.	Wohnzimmer	-	Phier	looking for support
Improve heating workshop	We have two heater in the lab in the main area. Since the workshop is a separated room the warm air does not float into it. Idea was to have some kind of system that only brings warm air into the workshop, but without that dust can come into the main room. It would need also some kind of door mechanism for summer, so that the noise stays also inside the workshop cube.	Workshop		Phier	looking for support

New life for monitors on the lasercube	At the door of the lasercube are two monitors, which have been originally run by two OrangePies. Both setups seems to be broken. CNC replacement	Our old bigger CNC is not realy in use in the moment, since it has some technical limitations and is hard to use it would be good to get an other CNC long term. Filament spool winder	Since we have a BambuLab AMS which doesn't take every spool width a filament spool winder would be handy. So we could get the filament off a spool which doesn't fit and onto a spool which fit. Beautify our light setup	In comparison to the MuCCC or other makerspaces our ambient is sometimes a bit too workshop like. Sometimes a bit more cozy athmosphäre would be nice. Idea: Use the warm white fairy light, that is a leftover in the yard and mount in the community space over the front part and the living room to test, if this could replace our main lightning as option for some days, where you want to have some nicer light. Optimize power consumption	We will be billed directly by our power consumption in the future. Therefore we should minimize our standby footprint. Move Artillery Sidewinder X2 back to the lasercube	After removing the Ulrich 3D Printer there is space in the laser shelf at the bottom right. Sorting out basement	In our basement the right back corner is full of old stuff. Improve peg boards workshop	We have big peg boards in the workshop, which are not really much used. Sort electronics boxes	When you're looking for a specific component it's exhausting to look through the small boxes which are stored in the shelf. The goal is to resort everything in those boxes into the big drawer (see photo below) as it's much easier to look through and find parts. If boxes/components are labeled, contact the person. Extend basement space for Euro Member boxen	The shelfs in the basement with the member boxes are nearly full. Task: There are two more shelfs on the left side in the basement (metall color), that are not really used. Move both to the right side instead of the single white shelf. Current state of the big drill press	Our big drill press (the one next to the garage door) has a major imbalance. Someone who has basic knowledge of a gearbox and/or bearings should have a look at it. Is it repairable? If yes, how much work and money would go into it? Sort out computer part cabinet	The computer parts cabinet next to the lasercube is full of stuff, that does not belong to it. I would be better to take things like switches and place them on top of the cabinet and get the other boxes from the top down. Prusa i3 Z-Axis issue	Our big Prusa 3D Printer (i3 MK3S) has an issue on the Z-Axis. As the photo (see below) shows there is a thick layer every 23 mm. Maybe one or both Z-Axis spindles have an imbalance and needs to be fixed/replaced.	3D Corner		Spacezhang	11/2024
