20260829 Plenum

From The Munich Maker Lab's Wiki

The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

  • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
  • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
  • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
  • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
  • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
  • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
  • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Saturday after the cleanup (which starts at 4 PM)
  • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

These are the notes for the Plenum that took place on Saturday, August 29th after the cleanup (around 6:00 PM)

Topics for the Plenum

What are you currently working on?

  • Brett: AI Harness and local agentic solutions, designing fan for laptop to do local AI
  • Jost: Reverse engineering of speech synthesizers, thinking about a sign for outside the makerspace
  • Adrian: Cooking, coding for the dxf designer, fine-tuning club mate recipe
  • Maggie: new flyer for stuff that is happening at the space
  • Aaron: gardening, leanring FreeCAD
  • Bira: eating black beans

Say thank you

  • Jost for organizing the Sewing Stuff with dedicated holders
  • Adrian for being on-site on a Monday morning to let the "Asbestos" check company in our facilities.
  • Jost, Brett, Bira, Robert O., Aaron for cleaning a lot of things in the space (even the kitchen lights' shades and the Kühlschrank)

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.

Vorstand updates

  • Last member counter: 192 paying member in September.
  • Asbestos test was taken from our facility on the 24th of August. We are waiting now for the results before we can safely drill again in all our walls.

What would you like to change or to be changed? Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space?

F2T boxes in gaming area

the F2T boxes seem to be stagnating. What are the next steps? Trash?

  • We will throw them away next plenum if no one takes this back

(Plastic) Recycling workshops

In October (19th-25th), there's the first Munich Climate Week; and starting on September 18th, there are the "Deutsche Aktionstage Nachhaltigkeit". We at Precious Plastic Munich are currently planning to do a few workshops in both contexts, on plastic recycling or even material reuse in a more general sense, and would like to do one or two of those at MuMaLab. Current planning for those workshops is to have them ~2h long for 10-15 people; we'd most likely do them in the community area (rest of the space would remain useable for everyone), and they'd be free for anyone to join but ideally people would register beforehand and leave a donation. Would that be something we can do in the lab? --Tiefpunkt (talk) 05:46, 29 August 2026 (UTC) (who unfortunately cannot be at the Plenum in person to present this)

  • approved by everyone
  • registration should be done through our pretix instance, contact Aaron for adding the courses
  • any machines (like the injection molding machine) need to be put back immediately after each course

Things to Buy

(Per-plenum spending limit for purchases that belong together: 250€. Larger amounts go through a loomio poll.
To get back your paid money send the invoice(s) to finance@munichmakerlab.de within 3 month. Extension of this time-frame needs to be approve by the Plenum beforehand. Make sure to have a separated invoice for Lab purchases)

Project PCBs for the Electronics Lab

It would be great to restock some small PCBs for projects, the ones that are left are all uncoated and not as practical to use. Maybe in different pre-cut sizes? -- Jost

Screw Extractor Set

At least two of the screw extractors in our set are broken (see also adrianmenzel's slack message from 2026-08-23 incl my response with photos of the extractor's current state and location in the drills drawer in the workshop).

-> should we buy a new cheap (16€ or so) set like e.g. https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Extractor-Set-5-Piece-Damaged-Remover/dp/B0F9WCWBSF ?

  • approved by everyone, but this would have been covered by the consumable budget as well. Adrian will buy them

Get Involved

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs or to get involved in one of our Lab Projects.

This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab and contributing time helps to keep our space in a good shape.
