The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

Preamble

• The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
• Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
• Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
• Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
• Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
• The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
• Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Saturday after the cleanup (which starts at 4 PM)
• Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.

• K.L.O Event funding update: We have now received the event funding, which was provided through Labor e.V. by the Bezirksausschüsse. We also received €278 in donations during the event, allowing us to cover all costs completely. Since we purchased many items that can be used over the long term, including for regular workshops and future events, such as the remaining soldering kits, this also helped reduce the strain on our regular budget for consumables and other expenses. --Milian
• There will be another round of the Werkstattstammtisch, this time at Haus der Eigenarbeit Munich. The event is organized together with TeamWerk Aschheim, which is cooperating with several Czech makerspaces as part of an Erasmus+ program, so there will also be many international participants. When: Thursday, 17 September 2026, from 19:00 (start 19:30) Where: HEI, Gewerbehof Westend, Schwanthalerstraße 143, 80339 Munich Registration: Please reply in the Slack thread The focus is on exchanging best practices in community work from local to international perspectives. Afterwards, there will be time for networking and a tour of HEI. Additional visits on Friday, 18 September 2026: The international group will visit us as well; Milian will give a tour. Lars Mentrup from Stadtrad will also visit the Kreativlabor and us to see what we are doing here.

Vorstand updates

Current stats: 185 Member

AI Act

A new EU regulation on AI-generated content is now in force (AI Act, Article 50), which also applies to clubs and associations. From our perspective, this means we need to clearly label AI-generated images and other content on social media, our website and in flyers. So far, we have barely used AI-generated content, mainly for creating event flyers and schedules.

Improving participation as we grow

We have now reached 180 members. From a financial perspective, this is excellent, and continued growth is positive. However, from an operational perspective, we are increasingly facing an imbalance between members who actively contribute to the physical space and those who primarily use it.

Our current system is intentionally very open and requires little fixed commitment. While this has worked well so far, it is unlikely to remain sustainable in the long term. We need more people who actively support the space, especially members willing to take ownership of specific tasks or areas and help reduce the workload on the Vorstand.

We should discuss how to address this more effectively. One idea that came up recently is to assign clear points of contact for defined areas. These individuals would help coordinate responsibilities, encourage participation in smaller maintenance tasks, and ensure that upkeep, resupply, and safety standards are consistently maintained.

A possible model, inspired by the CCC, would be to introduce time-bound “angel” roles or responsibility periods (for example, six months). During this time, individuals would take responsibility for a specific area. If someone no longer has the capacity or leaves, that is not an issue—as long as it is communicated early so a replacement can be found.

This approach could also lower the barrier for newer members to get involved, as expectations and time commitments would be more transparent and structured.

• Our bosch exzenter sander are both missing. Any idea where they are? Please note, that our machines should always stay at the lab. Any exceptions need to be noted down here, otherwise the machines are considered at stolen. --Milian

• The Band saw finally seems completely beyond repair and dangerous to use. Valentin looked at it and concluded that a repair is not feasible. So the only option left is to get rid of it

• Valentin will install Bambuddy on the Proxmoxx in the basement to control the printers. We will also put a laminated sheet of how-to next to the printers so that people understand how to use it :)

To get back your paid money send the invoice(s) to finance@munichmakerlab.de within 3 month. Extension of this time-frame needs to be approve by the Plenum beforehand. Make sure to have a separated invoice for Lab purchases)
