Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects

  • Marco : Workshop improvement project vote on table design https://munichmakerlab.slack.com/archives/C09NAMQJC5V/p1778659937918639
    • Approved Unanimously
  • Open Workshops Meetup: We will invite other open workshops around Munich to the Munich Maker Lab, Werkbox3 and Treibgut on the 10th of June. Everyone is invited to join on that day. Great chance to get a tour at Treibgut and Werkbox3 as well. There will be also a small get together to chat with the guests from other workshops.
  • Power Consumption optimization: We made quite nice progress to reduce our power consumption thanks to different initiatives and people! If you want to support, there is a new thread in #infrastructure to discuss the next steps -- Milian
  • Extend Workshop walls with Tools: As proposed in workshop improvement channel: On the next project day I would like to extend our tools wall behind the grinding machines and below the vacuum boom. This is in preparation for the upcoming changes with the new workbench and the new storage concept. Any votes against? Most of the material will be leftovers. Just some backup money is requested in the things to buy section -- Milian
  • Lending workshop soldering irons to uferlos festival: I discussed with Ludwig, that he might be interested to offer some Music related electronic workshop at some point later in the year. He will do some workshop in Freising this weekend at the Uferlos Festival and asked us, if we could lend some of our soldering irons, so he can offer it for more people. I propose this is fine to lend some of our cheap soldering stations for such a event. I can take care of preparing them and to make sure they return in well condition -- Milian
    • Approved Unanimously
  • Electric components donation: We got two more donations from a deceased member. Most of the stuff is already sorted in, but there are still one box of electronics parts, that needs to be checked out and sorted in into our electronic component drawers. Please ping me, if you want to support. We have got a lof of pliers and usable sensors/modules, so worth to check out the component drawers again. There are also a lot of leftover stuff free 2 take in the living room. Feel free to check out the paper boxes. -- Milian
Makerman Skydancer

Kreativlabor Open update

  • People needed on that weekend who give people tours through the Lab, help with button making or help kids to make a their Makerman magnet/brooch. Reserve the date (20.+21. June) in your calendar!
  • Funding and how to get money is finally sorted. Not only self-employed people can hand in bills, which is good.
  • Program and timetable of all houses is now available here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TRy2ujFa6tUTQUDAPEXnSu5EjzxEvlUJ/view
  • To attract people and as a little fun I want to buy a Skydancer tube man. It will be blue and if we manage to put a cape on it and to print our logo on the chest it will be the Makerman in life size. Would be a nice gimmick not only at K.L.O. but also at Corso Leopold (if we attend). Can also be used indoor on top of the workshop (height: 3m). See things to buy section. --Philipp

Pinball machine

The pinball machine has an issue that it reboots every-time you press both finger buttons (left + right) at the same time. It occurs less often when the machine ran for a few minutes (warming up). Someone is needed to look into this problem so it works properly until the Kreativlabor Open. Check #pinball for more details.

Also some spare parts are needed. See things to buy section. --Philipp

CNC update

The frame of the case is finished. However the front door needs some fine tuning to close properly (Spaltmaße).

Next step is to buy some acrylic (Plexiglas) for the housing. Treibgut has a whole shipping container full of it. Who can take the task to check out if they have something which fits? Measurements and further information in #cnc-router --Philipp

Vorstand updates

  • Electric bill refund (June–December 2025): Our landlord has agreed to refund the full €3,000 from the SWM bill. It could only a bit less, if there are issues with the tax refund on the landlord side. This came after constructive negotiations where we stood our ground on the contract terms. While we were legally in a strong position, I truly appreciate the landlord's willingness to consider our situation as a nonprofit and handle this professionally and fairly. Let's use this as motivation to optimize our power consumption long-term. -- Milian
  • Preliminary Renovation Report for Kreativlabor: At the start of the year, a rough assessment of the Kreativlabor renovation was prepared. It's insightful to see the broad plans, such as which buildings will be demolished and which (like ours) will remain. Our building requires updates to the roof, facade, concrete structure and potentially the fire alarm system and ventilation. Parking spaces will also be designated according to some laws. More details can be found in #future-of-the-kreativlabor -- Milian

What would you like to change or to be changed? Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space?

  • The First Aid kit in the main space (near the kitchen) is too high up for everyone to open/close. I'm not that tall and cannot open or close the kit without getting onto a stool. It'd be great if it could be moved to a more accessible location. - Jo (who unfortunately can't be here today)
    • Valentin is going to move it to the side of the kitchen counter.
