Projects & Groups update
This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.
- New initative to make space access more reliable. First improvements to protect the rolling gate in the workshop to get blocked have been already implemented.
- Checking what's the current status of the doorlock to figure out what we can improve.
- Electrifying the man door inside the primary gate
Emergency key access
I want to improve the possibility to react if our electric door system breaks and propose to install a key safe with combination lock outside the space. The combination can be shared via slack in case of issues, so it's not always necessary, that someone with a key is close to the lab. So far it was more or less luck, that someone was always more or less close to the lab.

Elecric Tree Fun project
A while ago we started the "electric tree" project to make some fun art of our old PCBs.
We got recently some donation of a box of more old PCBs (really old ones "Deutsches Museum Style". Want to start now to install the first branches as test to see how it looks. Since we only use material, that we already have and it will only need two dowels per branch, it should be not a big deal to mount the first extension and then see, if it's cool or not. So can be easily removed, if we don't like it afterwards. It's a bit of an experiment and can be extended later with some nice lights and other gadgets.

Space outdoor lighting extension
At the Kreativlabor Open Event we had a really nice outdoor decoration. We used my private fairy light. I want to buy some similar color full fairy light for the space and install it persistent: Space Outdoor Lighting
It will make the lab looking much more friendly and inviting in the evening especially in winter and makes also a nice athmosphere for events. The fairy lights can also easily taken on external events (e.g. hacking camps etc.)
Idea: Having a simple and durable fairy light without any gimicks, because it should be lasting long and maintenance should be easy. I discussed already with a few people, that programable LEDs are also nice, but make much more trouble especially outside. People had the idea to upgrade the Munich Maker Lab sign and I think this is much better suited to add some WS2811 LEDs ore similar. The proposed material is typically used in beergardens and is made for 24/7 outdoor use. I proposed the dimmable LEDs, because this makes it better usable for external events. The outdoor usage and the dimm-factor is also the reason why it seems bit more pricy, but that is normal for outdoor long lasting stuff.
I want to split the project in two parts:
a) getting the fairly light and make it usable manually via extenions cable
b) installing persistent power socket on the wall with separate RCD to make it safe against issues with moisture. Integrate it into home assistant that the ferry light only goes on, when it's dark and the space status is green and/or via manual activation.
Material Fairy Light:
ILLU Fairy Light cabel: 58€
LED Lights (different colors, dimmable): 68€
Shipping: 6€
Illu Extension Cable: 21€
= 160€
Permanent Installation:
Outdoor socket: 15€ (can be used later as well for other stuff)
RCD: 41€
Housing RCD: 11€
Zigbee Switch: leftover available in the lab:
= 67€

MiniJobs
If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.
Stuff from the past
What was discussed at the last Plenum? What's the current status of those things? 20250612 Plenum
- Drill bits and saw blades have been purchased and are available in the workshop
Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space? What would you like to change or to be changed?
- I would like to get Box 5 top right (a quarter box) https://wiki.munichmakerlab.de/wiki/Storage_space#Waiting-list --Karl

- The fire barrel from "Home of making" is still in front of the space. We decided to either get access or buy a Grill. We bought a grill so the barrel should go. It's a sign of how not to be inclusive and that bothers me. --Nico
- Aaron will talk to German
- Precious Plastic (PP) stuff in the basement will be sorted when the zero waste festival takes place

Things to Buy
- New screw sets:
We have a lot of (small screws) available in the lab which are nice for all kind of small projects. Especially, often you only need a small amount and they are often hard to get e.g. in the home depot store. As part of my initative to improve the sorting of the electronic drawers, I want also to refill the current inventory. It's important, that the stuff does not get misused to safe money, but so far it worked quite well and I think it brings a high value to the maker, especially for spontanous projects and everything around 3D-printing or electronic. At the moment I see more the problem, that people use the quite expensive long screws we have, even if they only need small ones.
I propose only sets, that I have bought my self or seem to have fair price-value.

- Couple (or a lot!) of cheap cutting pliers. The one you use for model or electronic work. They are great for 3D printing stuff. Let's get like 10 pieces for 20€ so it's no big loss if someone cuts wires with them. --Nico
