Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.

  • Energy4Ukraine had last weekend quite big and nice workshop to show general soldering and also their powerbank recycling work. Quite a lot of people came and also a really mixed group regarding age and gender. --Milian
  • Workshop improvements - new workbench: I installed new multiple sockets for our new workbench, new wooden boards for our re-supply boxes and also moved the vacuum, the sanding machine and some boxes stacks on wheel boards so we are much more flexible. Next step is to use our old metal shelves and install them es temporary storage solution below the new workbench to store properly all the smaller tool boxes. More details can be found in #workshop-improvement-project. I had to re-plan a few things spontaneoulsy due to stability concerns and some more money had been necessary. Compare things to buy section. I started also to improve the safety, so the boxes on the shelves can not fall of so easily. In general we should consider to make all our storage space safe in general. e.g. on the storage boxes in the community area, on the laser cube, in the 3D printing lounge etc. --Milian
  • We have quite a lot filament owned by the lab at the moment and our storage boxes are too full to store it properly. Idea: Add addtional wooden board above the Mk3s printer. We have all the material already there to do so. Just an other transparent big box is missing (compare things to buy section). Any objections to it? -- Milian

  • Registration for Corso Leopold is open now for the date in September: 12./13.09. The Munich Maker Lab has been present there in the past, but not in the last years. Would be nice, if a group of people is motivated to join there and present us to the city: https://corso-leopold.de/cl/mitmachen/ Unfortunately, I won't be able to join, but anyway would like to handover more organizational tasks to other member -- Milian
    • Registration ends 10.07. and noone volunteered to organize. Also It costs 105€ for 3x3m plus power if we need it. Communication should be done in Slack.

Vorstand updates

  • Men's toilet got several repairs and also flushing was improved after I reported it to the landlord's caretaker. Hopefuly this solves also recent smell issues, which made our neighbours unhappy --Milian
  • I organized, that we got a second key for our toilet access, which makes it much easier to solve the issue, when someone forgot the key in the toilet. -- Milian
  • Please be remined to not just dump personal or leftover stuff in the space. For temporary things make sure to always add a note with your name, the reason and a date, so it's clear why it is there. On the one hand it's really not an excellent behavior and on the other hand stuff without name tag might get disposed on the next cleanup day.

What would you like to change or to be changed? Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space?

Things to Buy

(Per-plenum spending limit for purchases that belong together: 250€. Larger amounts go through a loomio poll.

To get back your paid money send the invoice(s) to finance@munichmakerlab.de within 3 month. Extension of this time-frame needs to be approve by the Plenum beforehand. Make sure to have a separated invoice for Lab purchases)

  • Transparent boxes for the space: I would like to buy some more transparent boxes for storing space material that is not heavy, but where it makes more sense to see directly what is inside that box. Example: sewing material. In general we are needing more boxes, because we are sorting and storing a lot of stuff better and bought a lot of stuff over the last month. Idea: One big for lab 3d material with seal and 12 smaller ones for our other areas (4-6 for better storage of our sewing material; 6 for workshop and electronics corner re-supply and parts. 115€ with shipping. -- Milian
    • Approved Unanimously
  • For the workshop storage improvement we could re-use most of existing material, but we ran out of metal angles and wood, so I bought some stuff spontaneously from Treibgut and Home depot so I could finish the started work. 60€ The next step with using existing shelves under the workbench should not need more material. --Milian
    • Approved Unanimously
  • Thermal direct labelprinter. Primarily for labeling bags and reels of electronic components – but also available for general use. I currently brought my own personal label printer as a loaner, but would prefer the Teilchenbeschleuniger project not to depend on it. Buying suggestion: Brother TD-2020A, currently available for 45,94€ including shipping from Pollin --Timbodeit (talk) 18:28, 9 July 2026 (UTC)
    • Postponed as the "return of investment" seems unclear to the plenum assembly

Other stuff

Nico would like to borrow our "Bierbänke" and pavillons for an event at Hammer & Schild on Saturday 18th of July.

=> Approved
