Projects & Groups update
This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.
3D Printers
Our Bambu printers are in the Lab since 1,5 years (Rambu) and one year (Lambu) and they have been used a lot!
- Rambu (with AMS): In the Lab since 29.07.2024. Printing hours: 2047 (in 525 days) = 3,9.h per day
- Lambu: In the Lab since 28.12.2024. Printing hours: 1348 (in 374 days) = 3,6 h per day
Also calibrated both of them today (08.01.) to fight the ringing
I would like to discuss if we're happy with the current setup of 3D printers or if we need/want an upgrade like an AMS for Lambu or an additonal printer? --Phier
- Discussion outcome: Currently not really needed to extend to more printers. People should also consider to use the Prusa Minis and Prusa i3 they are also super fast. We might consider to introduce a new policy that people do not block both Bambu at the same for a long time. We should keep an eye on it.
Laser Cutter
While cutting the vacuum doesn't suck out the fumes very well. You can see the fume cloud standing in the chamber and not getting sucked out very fast.
I want to test if it works better if the vacuum tube is made shorter. If it goes underneath the Laser Cutter through the new flap in the wall and directly down in the pit to the vacuum. We already have a spare tube which can be used for testing, I only need a short pipe and some claps to connect it all together (see things to buy).
People who are interested in helping with the laser maintenance are very welcome in #laser-cutter-maintenance (Slack). --Phier
- Approved - Phier will test this
Cordless power drill
One of our Metabo power drills has a broken brake. I'll open it up and have a look if it can be repaired.
If the repairing costs are higher than buying a new one (125,- €) I'd like to reserve the budget for buying a new one (see things to buy).
Note: A new drill itself costs 125,- € where a set with the drill, 2x batteries and a charging station costs 163,- €. I recommend to get the whole set. --Phier
- Discussion outcome: We'll just keep it as is. If anyone feels qualified and energetic enough to try and fix it they're welcome to try :)
Status big CNC
What's the current status?
- Phier is currently rummaging through the stuff that's in the work body and the boxes underneath.
- The PC is old but still has the Mach3 license which is licensed to David. We'll just kick the thing out and look for a second hand one if we need it.
Resin 3D printer
There is the resin printer from Justin on the project shelf. What is the status?
Not sure. Justin will probably bring it up again.
- Discussion outcome: We probably don't want to have a resin printer here with the chemicals in the Maker Lab.
Combustion engine (of VW beetle) in the workshop
There is an engine in maintenance mode in the workshop. It's there since a while, but no sign on it?
- Aaron will talk to Rainer about it. It's not been approved by the plenum and definitely too big to just put here, especially without any name tag on it. If he doesn't take it within 2 weeks it hits the trash on the next cleanup day.
Old chairs
Since we now have decent office chairs what shall we do with the old chairs? --Phier
- Keep the ones that aren't broken on the Lasercube, ask if someone wants the good ones. (free2take). Drive the broken ones to the recycling yard.
Krachparade 2026
Do we want to participate? --Phier
- Probably too big for us alone. Idea: bring it to the Labor e.V. maybe it fits to the current protest culture. Milian propose it on the next Labor e.V. meeting. After we discuss it maybe in the plenum again.
- Korbinian knows people with the technical expertise if the Labor e.V. gives the go
Screen printing machine
Our neighbour Kevin offered to lend us his screen print machine as long-term loan (including tools needed for screen printing).
As it is free, but bigger than a member euro box, I bring the matter to the plenum.
It could be stored on top of the sewing material box or maybe inside (it can be disassembled).
It would be a benefit for the lab to have an additional method of textile finishing.
I know how to do screen printing and could give a course if there is interest.
Costs: 0 € -- Svenson
- Outcome discussion: No space at the moment. Slack message, if there are more people interested it can brought up on the next plenum.
Precious Plastic Injection Moulding
It's been sitting in the workshop for a while. David will contact Severin and they'll find a way to get it out :)
Addtional shelf for member boxes
We have got a lot of new member recently and I think it's a good idea to extend the member box shelf for the "Mini Euroboxes" in the basement once more. We sorted out already a few things over the last project days so there is enough space for an other member box shelf. I added a suitable shelf in the things to buy section. Would buy one shelf and then cut it into two pieces as we have it already with the other shelves.
I would suggest to check out all boxes, if the member are still part of our club on the next project/cleanup day as well.
The shelf is in the things to buy section.
-- Milian
- Sounds good :)
Vorstand updates
Get Involved
If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs or to get involved in one of our Lab Projects.
This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab and contributing time helps to keep our space in a good shape.

Things to Buy
- Shelf extension for the basement. 50€ -- Milian --> approved
