The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

  • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
  • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
  • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
  • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
  • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
  • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
  • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Sunday after the cleanup (which starts at 11 am)
  • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

These are the notes of the Plenum that took place on: Sunday, 27.04.2025 at 12:00

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space, other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.) or of the lab internal projects.

  • The "Budget" belt-sander has had an accident. It got really hot, turned off and then refused to turn on again. Thanks for reporting! That keeps the Lab functional. Chris advised to use the Bosch one for now. Are we happy to have reduced the zoo of sanders by one or do we fix/replace it? Chris K (talk) 09:53, 22 April 2025 (UTC)
    • As we have the other Bosch still working, we decide to throw this one away

Vorstand updates

  • We should discuss a date for the Mitgliederversammlung (Hauptversammlung). --Phier
    • David is unfortunately absent

Say Thank you

  • Aaron for mounting a soap dripping plate next to the sink.
  • Ivan & Adrian for organizing drinks.
  • Phier for taking the electronic waste to the recycling depot.
  • Milian for improvements in the electronic corner.
  • Phier for ordering and buying tools for the lab (Pliers, helping hand, tire pump).

MiniJobs

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.

Stuff from the past

What was discussed at the last Plenum? What's the current status of those things? 20250410 Plenum

  • Stuff for electronics workshops on Kreativlabor Open was ordered and arrived already
  • New Pavilion is also in the lab
  • Nice PLA colors for 3D Printing workshops is ordered

Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space? What would you like to change or to be changed?

  • Drill press
Our drill presses are solid and reliable but also not very practicable to use, neither precise nor state of the art. Especially the height adjustment of the table on the small "Flott" is pure pain, the depth stop is far from being logic and changing the speed is super hard (which should be a simple task).
I did some research and found out that the Bosch PBD 40 (244 €) or the Weldinger TB 2500 (250 €) will fit most of our use cases. In direct comparison the Weldinger has some advantages against the Bosch: More stiff (stabilere Säule), better radial runout (besserer Rundlauf), more power and a better "wheel" to grab (comparison videos: 1, 2, 3). My suggestion is to buy the Weldinger and sell the "Flott" either on eBay or to a member (Flott TB16; Flott TB13; Flott TB14). --Phier

    • Approved by everyone to buy the new machine and sell the Flott (tbd how and where we sell it).

  • Lights in Laser Lounge
The light in the Laser Lounge is pretty dim and also non LED. I want to replace them with new, brighter LED ones. See "things to buy" section. --Phier
