The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

  • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
  • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
  • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
  • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
  • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
  • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
  • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Sunday after the cleanup (which starts at 11 am)
  • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

Next Plenum: Thursday, June 13th at 8pm

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space or other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.)

Vorstand updates

  • Tomorrow Friday 14th the Yard will be unusable in the afternoon and evening due to a party from our neighbors.

Say Thank you

  • Robert for filling up the drinks
  • Robert for getting the new garden hose
  • Everyone who did something for the spae

MiniJobs

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.

Stuff from the past

What was discussed at the last Plenum? What's the current status of those things? 20240526 Plenum

  • New 3D printer: The price and specs for the new Creality K2 Plus printer are now available (see here). Aaron, Spacezhang‎, Chajax and Phier talked already about it and compared it to the BambuLab P1S.
    • Advantages and disadvantages of Creality K2 Plus compared to BambuLab P1S:
      • + Bigger build volume
      • + Slightly faster
      • + Slightly hotter bed temperature
      • - Much more expensive
      • - Shipped earliest in November (best case)
      • - Completely new system which could have some bugs
    • Hence we suggest to get the BambuLab P1S since it's cheaper, a proven system and directly available. When we buy it before 5. July we can get it for 850,-€ (150,-€ off). --Phier (talk) 13:22, 10 June 2024 (CEST)
  • New Garden Hose: Robert purchased the new garden hose for watering the plants, thanks! We decided to buy it last time.

Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space? What would you like to change or to be changed?

During the discussion it came up that:

  • The lathe is broken and should be replaced.
  • The drill presses also have pretty bad runout so we should think (Korbinian)
  • And an XY mill (also Korbinian)

Things for Newsletter, Social Media & Website News

Introduce Loomio poll

A bunch of members expressed a desire for a faster 3D printer which would reduce the time spent in the lab on large prints. Some mentioned being able to print in multicolor would be nice, too. Therefore we looked for a fast printer with a multicolor system which has also an enclosure to be able to print heat sensitive materials like ASA or ABS. The new Creality K2 Plus and the BambuLab P1S have been compared to each other. The BambuLab is the better choice for our Lab because it fits better in our shelf, it is cheapter than the Creality, it is a proven system, and we can buy it directly (unlike the Creality).

Things to Buy

  • We need more plexiglass pane for the CNC Introduction workshop, the old batch that I've sourced has beed used up. --Spacezhang (talk). 50€
    • Approved by everyone
  • German needs his two Stromverteilerboxen from the Workshop back. It would be easiest for us to just replace them with identical models which would come to 180€ for both
    • Approved by everyone
