This is a quick update from group meetings at our space or other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.)

* I've finally gotten around and tried out the cutter plotter silhouette portrait 1 and can confirm it is indeed not broken and fully functional. The Blade seems a bit dull though so I got a replacement to try it out. I've updated the wiki to the machine and will also print a label that links to the wiki to stick on the box later. --Spacezhang (talk) 00:44, 8 May 2024 (CEST)
* Mini CNC Update: We now have a replacement for CNC 3018 Pro machine that is more capable and safe. For the new machint to fit though, we need more room as it is a bit bigger then the current machine. My proposal is we get a extra shelve from bauhaus 100 x 50mm Shelf and put a big eurobox below, so the big eurobox can be used as a container and the same time as an enclosure, something along this: AUER Printer --Spacezhang (talk) 21:08, 7 December 2023 (CET)
* Not really a project update, but a quick call for sponsors for a university project in which I'm involved. We are part of the WARR (Wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Raketentechnik und Raumfahrt, which translates to “Scientific Workgroup for Rocketry and Spaceflight”). Our specific group is called WARR MOVE, and we are building small satellites called CubeSats for space exploration. We are currently working on the mission MOVE III, a 3U satellite with an in-house-built bus system and an in-house-developed payload called DEDRA that should study micro space debris in low Earth orbits. The first two missions, First Move and MOVE II / MOVE II b, were launched a while ago, and we are still communicating with and controlling one of the satellites. Due to the recent restructuring of the university chairs and WARR becoming its own e.V., we didn't receive any funding for the projects this semester, as we are no longer part of any university chairs, and developing satellite technology without any budget is a bit hard, to say the least :D. It should get better in the comming semester when the restructuring of the chairs is done but we need to somehow bridge the gaps. So, we are currently actively searching for sponsor companies or associations that would like to support us in our efforts. It doesn't need to be much, and any funding/advice would help. In return, we could put your company's logo on our sponsor's list, provide deliverables and progress reports/updates, and more. I currently cannot promise anything, but I could ask our PR team about the conditions if interested and check if other parts of WARR might have already been in contact. If you know any companies or associations that might be interested, or persons to contact, please write me on Slack or email or speak directly with me. Thank you. --Spacezhang (talk) 00:44, 8 May 2024 (CEST)

Light in the pit (Phier)
There is no proper light in the pit.
A LED panel is already installed near the servers but one have to walk in the dark till the end of the pit to switch it on. We could buy a switch and install it at the entrance of the pit.
Advanced option: Buy a button and a power-off delay relay so the light turns off automatically after a few minutes.
If the currently installed LED panel isn't enough to light up the pit, another panel (or a LED tube) could be installed.
** Asked a while ago who wanted to help install this and there was no interest. Help needed measuring and installing, we have some material on-site (lamps) and a plan what is needed. Due to constraints (removable top) and the topic (electricity on a metal structure), this needs to be planned out beforehand. We generally do no longer buy "Baumarktschalter". The best solution for the pit (and what was previously discussed) is a motion sensor, as people go down there with full hands regularly. --ⓒ②② (🅃🄰🄻🄺) 20:33, 11 December 2023 (CET)

* I have access to a moderate amount of wooden planks (package dimensions roughly 70x30x30 cm, I'll bring them with me to look at). They are from two old Lattenroste (slatted frames?). I'd like to donate them to the space and store them in the pit. The motivation is that many of our plant boxes in the yard are in a pretty bad shape and likely require extended repairs or even rebuilds in the next 1-2 years. I will be likely involved with that and I reckon that the wooden planks could be useful, especially as new wood got quite expensive. I'd label them and restrict the storage to one year for now. If at any point the pose a problem, I can and will easily dispose of them either at Treibgut or the Wertstoffhof. Total Cost 0€. --Aaron (talk)
* Not really anything to buy, but I would like to bring some chopsticks to the lab so asia food can be properly consumed. The chopsticks are wash machine washable and we should have space for them in the kitchen. --Spacezhang (talk) 00:44, 8 May 2024 (CEST)

The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

 • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
 • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
 • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
 • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
 • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
 • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
 • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Sunday after the cleanup (which starts at 11 am)
 • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

Next Plenum: Thursday, May 9th at 8pm

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space or other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.)

 • I've finally gotten around and tried out the cutter plotter silhouette portrait 1 and can confirm it is indeed not broken and fully functional. The Blade seems a bit dull though so I got a replacement to try it out. I've updated the wiki to the machine and will also print a label that links to the wiki to stick on the box later. --Spacezhang (talk) 00:44, 8 May 2024 (CEST)
 • Not really a project update, but a quick call for sponsors for a university project in which I'm involved.

MiniJobs

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.
