* Not really a project update, but a quick call for sponsors for a university project in which I'm involved. We are part of the WARR (Wissenschaftliche Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Raketentechnik und Raumfahrt, which translates to “Scientific Workgroup for Rocketry and Spaceflight”). Our specific group is called WARR MOVE, and we are building small satellites called CubeSats for space exploration. We are currently working on the mission MOVE III, a 3U satellite with an in-house-built bus system and an in-house-developed payload called DEDRA that should study micro space debris in low Earth orbits. The first two missions, First Move and MOVE II / MOVE II b, were launched a while ago, and we are still communicating with and controlling one of the satellites. Due to the recent restructuring of the university chairs and WARR becoming its own e.V., we didn't receive any funding for the projects this semester, as we are no longer part of any university chairs, and developing satellite technology without any budget is a bit hard, to say the least :D. It should get better in the comming semester when the restructuring of the chairs is done but we need to somehow bridge the gaps. So, we are currently actively searching for sponsor companies or associations that would like to support us in our efforts. It doesn't need to be much, and any funding/advice would help. In return, we could put your company's logo on our sponsor's list, provide deliverables and progress reports/updates, and more. I currently cannot promise anything, but I could ask our PR team about the conditions if interested and check if other parts of WARR might have already been in contact. If you know any companies or associations that might be interested, or persons to contact, please write me on Slack or email or speak directly with me. Thank you. --Spacezhang (talk) 00:44, 8 May 2024 (CEST)

* Cleanup: Thank you to the 20 people who helped spring-cleaning the space! We were busy from around 10 am until 4 pm and focused on cleaning the busy areas and the pit. All member boxes were moved from the pit to the gaming area to see which members were still actively using theirs.

* Lasercutter: The laser cutter is currently producing wobbly lines. This is most likely a mechanical or electronic/configuration problem. We will continue to investigate - if you want to help, please reach out to German so we can coordinate what has been tried before.

* Gaming area: The power strip has been replaced with a new one. So far no more issues with the fuse. Keep an eye out on it and if it happens again, please let us know on Slack so we can take care of it. Alex additionally sorted through some stuff.

* There has been a discussion about the CRT beamer on Slack. It was moved up to the cube after it was decided on a Plenum that we want to get rid of it. While there should always be a way to keep something important to our members, simply moving it to the highest point of the lab a few days after it was decided that we wanted to get rid of it does not seem the most excellent way to ask for that. That aside, the projector emits a super high-pitched sound in the 16-17 kHz region, and I am (un)fortunate enough to hear it loud and clear while it is on. My proposal to solve this situation:
** Get rid of the CRT beamer (high power consumption, loud fan, annoying 16-17kHz noise, dim)
** Get a loomio up to buy a projector that does not have these issues and make sure the member can display the art he wants to display
--ⓒ②② (🅃🄰🄻🄺) 19:06, 10 May 2023 (CEST)
Counter point: This projector is older then most of our members - it still has a lot of life left and is a piece of legacy technology not many people ever interacted with. Even when it was sitting on the shelf people were  asking what it was and were interested in it. A new beamer can't provide that.
The high pitched noice can be fixed by swapping out a few Cs, the fan noise is barely audible below (there are multiple sources louder, like the drinks fridge) and power (its rated for 215W) is still free, as evident by people charging their Teslas on Space power outlets.
Fixing it, and setting up auto-start and mqtt integration will take some time. A better wall mount is already available so it doesn't take up space on the cube.

* If you want to clean dirty dishes in the kitchen and the dishwasher just ran and is still full, I think it is the best procedure for everyone if you just put away all the clean dishes from the dishwasher first, even if you did not produce them. If you are annoyed by having to do this a lot of times, you can also clean your dishes manually. There was a discussion in Slack about leaving them to air-dry for days next to the sink, but there the dishes will get splashed on so they get dirty again, and take up space. Hence, in this case, you should dry them with a kitchen towel and put them away immediately instead. --ⓒ②② (🅃🄰🄻🄺) 19:06, 10 May 2023 (CEST)

** Router lift project: It seems like not too much progress happened and it is not moving forward but the date keeps being extended.
** Scooter: It has been on there for a couple of month, most of the time without date and name.

I'd like to donate them to the space and store them in the pit. The motivation is that many of our plant boxes in the yard are in a pretty bad shape and likely require extended repairs or even rebuilds in the next 1-2 years. I will be likely involved with that and I reckon that the wooden planks could be useful, especially as new wood got quite expensive. I'd label them and restrict the storage to one year for now. The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

 • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
 • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
 • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
 • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
 • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
 • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
 • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Sunday after the cleanup (which starts at 11 am)
 • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

Next Plenum: Thursday, May 9th at 8pm

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space or other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.)

 • I've finally gotten around and tried out the cutter plotter silhouette portrait 1 and can confirm it is indeed not broken and fully functional. The Blade seems a bit dull though so I got a replacement to try it out. I've updated the wiki to the machine and will also print a label that links to the wiki to stick on the box later. --Spacezhang (talk) 00:44, 8 May 2024 (CEST)

MiniJobs

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.
