The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

  • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
  • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
  • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
  • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
  • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
  • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
  • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Sunday after the cleanup (which starts at 11 am)
  • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

Next Plenum: Sunday, Jul 30th after the cleanup which starts at 11am

Projects & Groups update

This is a quick update from group meetings at our space or other long-term space projects (e.g., Lasercutter, CNC, etc.)

Gaming area tripped again, this time, I flipped one row of sockets, then another and noticed after the fuse had flipped again, we probably need to systematically assess which row of sockets, then which items are causing the tripping --AliG

Say Thank you

MiniJobs

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.

Oberfräse

As discussed in 20230713 Plenum, we want to get an Oberfräse (hand router) for the space. The intention is to introduce more delicate and precise wood working capabilities to our workshop for things like Nutfräsen (slot milling), Kantenfasen (chamfering), or precise drilling of insets/holes. Using commercial or self-made accessoires you can make professional joins (Zinken) to make boxes and drawers. You can even make complete furnitures. We will be getting a set that includes appropriate accessories as well. Peter will be stewarding the machine and wants to learn and teach about its use. We have to decide between the following options which machine to get:

  • Possible machines (no more dual use machines for router table AND manual mode available below 4.7kg because of new EU wide law for "Wiederanlaufschutz"):
    • DeWalt DW622: https://www.sautershop.de/oberfraese-dewalt-dw-622-k-d-dw622kt-qs?c=12160
      • 3.1kg
      • 1400W
      • 6,35mm, 8mm, 10mm and 12mm router bits usable
      • excellent dust collector without fragile plastic part
      • smooth up/down movement (have checked it live)
      • compatible with lots of 3rd party accessoirs
      • e.g. 530€ incl. tax @sautershop.de for router, container, collet chucks 8mm & 12mm, rip fence with fine adjustment (Parallelanschlag). According to German he sees other sources with maybe better prices but also offering support.
    • Festool OF1400 EBQ: https://www.sautershop.de/festool-oberfraese-of-1400-ebq-plus-f-576207?c=13427
      • 4.1kg
      • 1400W
      • 6,35mm to 12.7mm router bits usable
      • quite robust dust collector
      • excellent smooth up/down movement (have checked it live)
      • not so compatible with 3rd party accessoirs. Festool parts very good, but very expensive
      • quality for the Professionals - longer lifetime also for the Lab - but $$$
      • e.g. 770€ incl. tax @sautershop.de for router, container, collet chucks 8mm & 12mm, rip fence with fine adjustment (Parallelanschlag)

    • Thanks to Peter (?) for preparing this. I personally would appreciate if he made a Wiki account and posted the poll intro himself. As I can't be here myself, what should be clarified beforehand: What is the policy around the machine? (Open use, course needed etc.) - this needs at least some pointers from the Board of Members. I am in favor of obtaining the DeWalt for price. If we figure out that courses are offered (What is the timeline on this?) and people want more, I am happy to vote yes on a upgrade poll. --ⓒ②② (🅃🄰🄻🄺) 10:21, 30 July 2023 (CEST)

Things to Buy
