Description Glass grinder used to smooth cut edges of glass

Safety and being a good person

  • Always wear safety goggles when using the glass grinder!
  • Only use the glass grinder with water (never dry!)
  • Only glass! Only use the glass grinder with glass, obviously. It is not for any other materials!
  • Always completely clean the grinder when done. Remove water and completely wipe out glass dust sediment.

Instructions for use

The glass grinder disassembles into 3 pieces for typical use. The base, the top, and a sponge. Fill the base completely with clean water before use.
This is what the glass grinder looks like when assembled and ready for use.
The glass should be cut to close to the correct size before grinding. Hold the glass flat and gently press it against the grinding bit.

The glass grinder is stored in the workshop in a Eurobox.

The grinder disassembles into 3 pieces for typical use (see picture)

  1. Remove the top from the base by gently pulling.
  2. Fill the base completely with clean water, and put the top back on.
  3. Place a piece of sponge between the grinding bit and the little wall piece. (See picture).
  4. When you turn on the glass grinder, there should be enough water that the bit is wet. Some water might even splash up a bit. NEVER USE THE GRINDER WITHOUT WATER!
  5. Your glass pieces should already be cut almost to size. The grinder is for finishing the edges. Hold the piece flat against grinder, using your fingers to apply downward pressure. Gently press the glass against the bit to grind it. If your fingers touch the bit, it doesn't really hurt. You don't need to wear gloves. (Gloves might actually catch the bit- I'm not sure. If you wear gloves, do so at your own risk.)
  6. When you are done, completely clean up! Dump out the water. There will be glass dust that has settled to the bottom. Wipe it out and rinse the base with water until it is completely clean. Dry the grinder before putting it back in the storage box. Return the sponge too, unless it has gotten too old.
