How to Use a Button-Making Machine
We have two Button-Making Machines, one for 25 mm Buttons and one foe 58 mm Buttons.
Materials Needed
- Button-making machine
- Button parts (front shell, back piece, and plastic film)
- Printed design in the correct size (There is a handy tool for the creation of Buttons: https://simmarith.neocities.org/).
- Circle cutter or scissors
Step 1: Prepare the Design
- Print your design at the correct size.
- Cut the design into a circle.
- Make sure there is a small margin around the artwork so it can wrap around the button edge.
Step 2: Load the Components
- Place the metal front shell into the first station of the machine.
- Position the cut-out design on top of the shell.
- Place the clear plastic film over the design.
Step 3: Press the Front Part
- Move (58 mm Button Machine) or rotate (25 mm Button Machine) the station under the press head.
- Pull the handle down completely.
- Return the handle to its original position.
Step 4: Insert the Back Part
- Place the button back (pin-back, magnet-back, or clip-back) into the second station.
- Move or rotate the station under the press head.
Step 5: Assemble the Button
- Pull the handle down completely once again.
- Raise the handle.
- Remove the finished button and inspect it.
Common Issues
Plastic Film Slips
- Make sure the design and film are properly aligned before pressing.
Button Does Not Close Properly
- Check that the button components match the machine size.
Design Is Crooked
- Carefully center and align the design before pressing.
