The Plenum is a regular meeting of all people involved with the space to talk about things and decide stuff. If you have any topics to add, go right ahead! Please sign your points with your name (by adding a "--~~~~" after your text).

After the Plenum, please follow the tasks outlined in Cycling the Plenum to archive the discussion.

Preamble

  • The Plenum is an institution to decide what the space should look like, physically and in other ways, such as virtually.
  • Things concerning the space should be discussed at a plenum.
  • Everyone on-site can participate in that process, member or otherwise.
  • Everyone can lead a plenum; no need for board members to do that.
  • Topics should ideally be announced on the Plenum wiki page beforehand.
  • The Plenum should be held in a language that everyone participating understands.
  • Scheduling: Second Thursday of the month at 8 pm and the last Sunday after the cleanup (which starts at 11 am)
  • Plenums should be no longer than 90 minutes.

Next Plenum: Sunday, April 28th after the cleanup which starts at 11am

    • membership fee inreased from 200€ to 300€ per year
  • Volunteering
    • every entity on the Kreativquartier shall do 100hrs per year of volunteering work, but with our tending to the yard, gardening, and courses that should be no problem

Say Thank you

  • everyone who helped at the cleanup!
  • everyone doing courses!

MiniJobs

If you want to be mentioned at the previous section as well, one of the easiest ways is to take one of our MiniJobs. This is a great way to participate in the Munich Maker Lab e.V. and contributing time helps keeping our space in a good shape. You can find all information about the scope of the available jobs on MiniJobs.

Stuff from the past

What was discussed at the last Plenum? What's the current status of those things? 20240411 Plenum

  • Possible space for injection molding machine: Waiting on Severin to reply
    • does it stink? Yes, but it’s portable enough to just move it to the workshop gate or even out into the open for operation
    • does it need 3phase power? No, single phase 230V
    • footprint etc.: this is what it looks like: [1]
    • timeframe: we could do something like 2 weeks, sure. In general, I won’t have time to get this started properly until June, or more likely even July.
      • We approve to store it near/in the gaming corner and e.g. move the brown sofa inwards and store it behind that, or make room by moving the projection screen into the pit.
      • Maybe do a demonstration for people that are interested in this and let people know in _general when sessions are intended
        • approved by everyone

New dishwasher

I have an old, but "newer-than-ours" dishwasher, that I can donate to the space. --David (talk)

    • approved by everyone, David will recheck the measurements, and give it another test run before we bring it to the space

New fridge

I have a fridge (slightly larger) that might replace our kitchen fridge, would suggest to make a decision depending on the power consumption of our existing one. --David (talk)

  • for now the next step is to look up power consumption and possibly meter the the power used

Digital Magazines

As we now have access to a digital subscription of several magazines, we should think about a way how members can access these. Direct access via the credentials is suboptimal, so we should find way to store them at the space. Maybe a nextcloud instance? --David (talk)

  • I like the idea, and we could probably use that for some other stuff as well (like managing our calendar etc). But we would need some people to take care of a bit of the admin work as well. Also we should investigate some “centralized” login mechanism to not have to create individual accounts on a multitude of services then (wiki, nextcloud, …) --Tiefpunkt (talk) 09:20, 28 April 2024 (CEST)
    • We could also set up a dirlisted directory only accessible from inside the space wifi (plenum idea)
    • David will talk with Severin

Anything you don't feel comfortable with within the space? What would you like to change or to be changed?

  • Plenum discussion: We talked about our Ultimaker "Ulrich" unlimited Z taking up valuable space while it is not being used. Justin printed with it most recently and noted that it is hard to set up and not super reliable. Another reason for the rare use is that these large prints take a lot of time, and this is difficult to supervise.
    • We agreed to decide next plenum if we want to keep it or not, any feedback until then is appreciated

Things for Newsletter, Social Media & Website News

Introduce Loomio poll

With the availability of the Prusa MK3 to MK4 series upgrade kit and the demonstrated reliability of the Prusa MK4, I am considering upgrading our MK3 from Terry to a newer version, specifically, the MK3.5, MK3.9, or directly to the MK4. Each upgrade includes a more user-friendly interface and an enhanced mainboard. Notably, the MK3.9 and MK4 offer the added benefits of improved speed and quality. I have already discussed this with Terry and have time this semester to perform the upgrade. The cost of upgrading to the MK3.5 is 279 Euros, to the MK3.9 is 549 Euros, and the complete MK4 upgrade is 639 Euros. --Spacezhang (talk) 10:06, 28 April 2024 (CEST)

  • Everyone agreed to postpone this descision and discuss further in the 3d printing channel
  • Some points we talked about:
    • MK3.5 uprade is mainly about the nicer display, to meaningfully upgrade the speed we'd need 3.9 or 4
    • a enclosed Bambulab printer is approx 750€ which would allow us to print ABS and it is pretty fast as well
    • the MK3 is currently lent by Terry, so before upgrading it with space funds we would clear up if it can be determined to stay at the space going forward
