A Hacker's Field Telephone

Release status: experimental [box doku]

Description A DIY field telephone kit
Author(s)  Paul, Phil, Severin

The Chaosvermittlung is a group of people that builds up a field telephone network at hacker conferences and camps. One idea that came up during the GRODEN'18 was to build our own field telephone. Let's do it!

Ideas

  • Use an old regular telephone as a base, build a PCB that replaces the old internals
  • Build a telephone from scratch, laser cut case, etc.

Open Questions

  • Do we need a transformer? Or can that be replaced?
    • If not, what kind? How to get it easily and cheaply?
  • Do we need the ringing voltage generator? Or can we replace that?
