  • Christoph G. for his continous effords on making the space great again and getting proper tools
  • Chris B. for cleaning the Lab Air with his Storagebox Air Filter
  • Meier/German for the progress on the PIT-Grid-Situation

Stuff from the past

What was discussed at the last Plenum? What's the current status of those things? 20200611 Plenum

  • We'll get the funding help for the 2nd floor soon => we'll create a slack channel for everyone who wants to work on that
  • Loomio people changed their licensing, but we'll still go for it - Implementation will continue when Nico comes back
  • Not 4get the Amazon Smile at your Amazon Checkouts (Space needs/likes free Money)

Decision Making in the Future

We're picking up steam again - people are coming back into the space and doing things. We'll need to spend some larger amount of money in the forseeable future to keep this going. We've used the online plenum so far only for smaller amounts.

  • Further options:
    • loomio
    • online plenum
    • wait for normal plenums

Approved next steps:

  • online plenum will decide for now in every aspect like normal plenum - loomio will pick up whenever it's ready
  • budgets per department will be decided until next plenum
  • activate Loomio... German will transform past Plenum decisions into a wiki article

Space move

  • Status update Lasercutter
    • Lasercutter is basically working again
    • Issues with Waterprotect still exist
    • We potentially need to fix the Arduino code. Further discusstions in the #lasercutter channel
  • Short overview over what's done and what tasks are still unfinished in the pit
    • wooden boards are set in
    • lights remain to be installed
    • steel boarder is in the process of being cut off - please help with that

Workshop update

Status update CNC Mill

  • it's running - we've milled some wood already
  • ideas: next upgrade tool touch off/3d taster?
    • Could be DIY'd, but kinda cheap to buy as well (~40€ for tool touch off, ~200 for 3D tool thingy)
    • Let's see how much the mill gets used and buy stuff then
    • z axis is slow and possibly loses steps as far as we can see
    • it'll do wood fine - we'll test metals soon

Misc

  • We have new safety goggles (different types) (20191229_Plenum)
  • We have cleaning towel (primarily as anti-covid-please-desinfect-measure, but they are great for everything else as well ;) ) - We plan to add a dispenser at the poison cabinet.
  • Standing drill update (if meier is around?)
    • The Flott drill press is broken, spindle is not straight anymore. Probably rather expensive, Christoph will try to figure it out
    • Other drillpress works fine, but is less powerful, and also kinda tall -> Christoph will build a smaller stand soon™
  • We reinforced the wood plate holder

Anything you don't feel comfortable within the space? What would you like to change or to be changed?

Is there anything that's bothering you?

  • Social Media: We need semi-public access to social-media so people can make posts or advertisements for the lab
    • Use the slack channel to "post" your stuff - the people with access will transfer it to social media
  • The website needs a little bit of rework. Currently, stuff like Equipment is in the wiki. But the step from the website to the less simple wiki is huge when somebody is just looking for a space to do something specific and wants to see if he can do it in our maker space (like the laser cutter for example)
    • The whole website codebase is in our git group
    • you can create a pull request and carry it into next plenum for approval
  • Some people still have a second storage closet which is against our policy and decisions made in earlier plenums.
  • Private stuff is still on the top of storage boxes - we've decided to clean this up in January
    • All private stuff that is not in storage boxes (small or medium) has to be cleaned out by the 31. of july => decided
  • Coffee machine still has a password and is a good example for the way things currently are in the lab
    • Coffe machine will be thrown out
  • The shelf with storage crates we made specifically for either very tall or disabled people is used by people not really fitting in these categories
    • The shelf was made for all people with difficulties getting into the pit - which fits all people in with boxes in there
  • Some people throw away stuff without asking beforehand or just deciding things on their own
    • No current occurrences
    • Note: Free2use stuff can be thrown away or taken by someone to hack at anytime. If you want to work on something, store it appropriately (e.g. in your member box)
  • There is an increasing problem with discrimination, hate, aggressiveness, and active obstruction on people trying to actively work on or for the space
    • Issues have been resolved

Plenum frequency

There seems to be a little bit of uncertainty about the current frequency of Plenums. For the past four months, we've had one monthly Plenum, on a Thursday. The Plenum Preamble notes two Plenum dates per month. And to make things even more unclear, there have been discussions about moving and canceling Plenum dates in the past (20200310 Plenum), without properly documented decisions. So let's clarify this (and note it down properly). --Tiefpunkt (talk) 18:07, 24 June 2020 (CEST)

  • the documentation (and I have not written that protocol) is complete from my PoV. Sunday plenums were not discussed, it was discussed to revert the change of plenums from Thursdays to Tuesdays. --C22 (talk) 19:15, 27 June 2020 (CEST)
  • It was discussed to instead of moving from Thursdays to Tuesdays, to move the Sunday Plenum to Tuesday, since the Sunday Plenum Attendees liked Tuesday so much. It is not mentioned in the documentation, therefore its incomplete. -- Alex
  • Suggestion: 2 Plenum dates per month, Thursday and Sunday, as before
    • decision ended in a draw
    • No 2nd monthly Plenum for now, we stay with the second Thursday only, until further discussion

Things for Newsletter, Social Media & Website News

  • CNC update
  • Lasercutter update
  • Part 1 of the community area work finished

Continuous communication vs. The Plenum

I feel like many things we regularly discuss at the plenum could be easily solved or replaced by one of the many other means of communication we have, such as slack, mailing list or contact to a specific group such as the awareness team or the board. It seems to me that we carry stuff from plenum to plenum, but in the meantime don't really do much to move forward, even though we have a bunch of tools as our disposal. I'm curious if there are others sharing that same feeling, and what we could do about it. --Tiefpunkt (talk) 00:08, 30 June 2020 (CEST)

Things to Buy

Industrial CNC Mill e.g. Maho 400E or similar

  • Cost: Machine
  • Eventuell könnte man eine Benutzungsgebühr wie beim Laser einrichten
  • Angebot ist von einem Fachkundigen abgenickt
  • Vorschlag allgemein für Fräse

~MrSpeaky

- postponed due to previous discussions

Laminator

My laminator broke while laminating the check-in-out-station stuff. (Unfortunately the heating element and not the electronics...) As I have mainly laminated stuff for the space/members of the space anyway, it would be great to get a replacement unit. It was a Olympia A 396Plus capeable of laminating A3 which is about 35€ incl. shipping. --C22 (talk) 11:23, 8 July 2020 (CEST)

- Approved, we'll get two, one to replace germans, another one for the space

2 Prusa Mini

  • Cost: 2x380€
  • funktionierende Drucker Wo man nicht groß Basteln muss
  • Präsentation/Erklärung im Plenum (Chris + Adi)

- Approved

  • 2 printers will be bought
  • neo and vertex get the boot

Handkehrwagen

  • Would be great to get a small "Handkehrwagen" to speed up cleaning outside of the space. We are doing it manually right now but it is a lot of surface area and it takes a lot of time. A handkehrwagen for around 100€ could also be used to clean up within the workshop/space. --C22 (talk) 11:23, 8 July 2020 (CEST)
